BLOCK SCHEDULING
Hibernian uses a block scheduling system for both our middle and high school academic programs. Instead of six or seven 40-50 minute periods that meet daily, block scheduled classes meet for longer periods, fewer times each week. Students benefit from a less fragmented lesson, reduced administrative time, and increased opportunity for project based learning and independent work under teacher supervision.
GETTING ON TRACK
While the term “alternative school” has often been used in association with behavior problems, Hibernian specializes in supporting students that have not been successful in traditional schools due to attendance issues, learning challenges, bullying, mental health, and more. Every Hibernian student has a customized plan to reach their planned graduation date which may include credit recovery, extra courses, flex courses through 3rd party partners, and more.
SEMINAR COURSES
In addition to core academics, we believe students should be learning practical life skills including personal finance, teamwork, problem-solving, responsibility, and self-advocacy. Our Seminar courses are designed to help students explore these areas and more.
